Geisinger Healthcare creates positive outcomes for patients through the power of kindness

 

Everyday acts of kindness are the foundation of caring at Geisinger Healthcare, helping create a compassionate and memorable experience for patients. The rural Pennsylvania healthcare system has deep roots in each of the communities it serves, and hospital executives sought to convey the importance of creating a compassionate, personalized and respectful health care experience. For this campaign, we partnered with Digital Health Strategies and Old Bridge Media to create a six-part series dedicated to Geisinger workers engaged in acts of kindness.

Located in northern Pennsylvania and New Jersey, Geisinger Healthcare serves more than 1.5 million consumers and boosts billions of dollars annually into the local economy.  With 32,000 employees and 1,800 employed physicians, the health system includes 13 hospital campuses, a 600,000-member health plan, two research centers and the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine.  Agency partner Digital Health Strategies of Washington, D.C., has created a number of successful campaigns for Geisinger and oversees the healthcare system’s employee wellness programs.

The Power of Kindness

A simple thank-you video from Geisinger CEO David Feinberg and hospital employees evolved into six separate stories profiling acts of kindness by hospital employees.  Digital Health Strategies presented the films to hospital employees at each of the hospital campuses in the style of a min-film festival, as well as internal and external facing online assets.  The stories earned high marks from hospital employees.  

Geisinger Healthcare core values campaign

 

To further define the values of Geisinger Healthcare, a successive campaign identified four Geisinger employees who embodied the core values of learning, excellence, innovation and kindness at the hospital’s campuses. Stories were crafted through interviews and high-end still photographs to create a unique visual story that would stand out in a cluttered media landscape. Coupled with the video were a number of high-end studio portraits of hospital employees that were framed and used as large poster-style messages with quotes throughout hospital properties in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
